What Manner of Man is This?

When the Savior

Silenced the storm

That had besieged the sailors

On the Sea of Galilee,

“They feared exceedingly,

And said one to another,

What manner of man is this,

That even the wind and the sea obey Him?” (Mark 4:41, KJV)

“What manner of man is this?”

We like categories for people.

Tall people.

Short people.

Rich people.

Poor people.

Strong people.

Weak people.

But the disciples didn’t have a category

For Jesus, the Nazarene.

There is no category for the kind of man

Who silences storms with a word.

He isn’t just beyond the norm—

He is beyond all categories.

He is in His own category.

He is the God-man, the Creator Incarnate.

Oh may you be filled with worship today

For the One who defies every human category!
