Joseph’s most spectacular step
Of bold, ridiculous faith,
Might not have been when he dreamed
As a young man
Or when he resisted the temptress’ seduction,
But when he accepted the signet ring (Genesis 41:42)
And took the second throne of the world’s greatest empire.
Who is this man
Who glides from weakness to strength,
From disdain to adoration,
From the dungeon to dominion,
Without batting an eye,
As if expecting it all the while?
When the call comes,
And Pharaoh beckons you
From the dungeon of your affliction,
From the obscurity of your situation,
From the humility of your location,
May you walk boldly into the light
Of the new day
And take whatever throne
God wants you to take.
I bless you to endure
The dungeon days with grace
And to embrace the glory days
With gratitude.
