Wonder-working power in the Blood—
In the Blood of the Lamb.

From the moment that the Lord
Shed innocent blood to make
Better clothes for the ashamed sinners
In the Garden

To the moment Noah made a sacrifice to the Lord,
To the moment God cut a covenant with Abram,
To the moment Hebrew patriarchs painted their doorframes red,
To the moment the High Priest flung blood onto the mercy seat,
To the moment prophet proclaimed a Messiah’s wounds would heal,

There has been a blood-red thread weaving
The whole tapestry of God’s Word together
Until the Savior’s blood flowed freely
From Calvary’s tree so that
You could be free.

Spotless blood has been shed for sin,
Once and for all.
So, child of God, no sacrifice remains.
No blood of yours need be shed.
