Child of God,
You are more than forgiven—
You are credited
With Jesus’ righteousness.

“And to the one who does not work
But believes in him who justifies the ungodly,
His faith is counted as righteousness….” (Romans 4:5, ESV)

If God had only declared you forgiven,
It would have been wonderful,
But would have left you morally neutral.
You would have been “not guilty,”
But you would have no record of righteousness.

Morally neutral people do not merit Heaven.

So God, in His infinite grace,
Has credited you with the merits of Christ—
You have “become the righteousness of God” (2 Cor. 5:21, ESV)

Spurgeon said:
“God considers us as though we were Christ…
And “… rewards us as though all He did
Had been done by us….”

Be filled with joy and confidence—
You have been counted righteous in God’s eyes.
