You’re near to God today because God is near to you.
I bless you to know Him today as Immanuel—
“God with us.”
Isaiah foretold it.
The Christmas angel confirmed it.
Joseph believed it.
Christmas is the closeness of God.
You did not find Him—
He found you.
You did not cause His nearness—
He chose to come close.
What’s left to do
But draw near to the manger?
Peer in. Behold the mystery. Tremble with joy.
God has arrived, never to leave you.
If God is “with you,”
Then,
You must be with God.

Today’s Readings:
Matthew 1:21–23 (ESV)
21 She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” 22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: 23 “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).
Isaiah 7:14 (ESV)
14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
You never have to be far away from God because God did the impossible to come near to you. You can enjoy God today, up close. And that’s the Gospel!
