As you contemplate the treasures of God’s grace, you discover more wealth every day.
I’ve always loved the way Mary responded after the shepherds visited the manger. Their story of an angelic visitation and a heavenly host of angelic warriors sent her heart into deep meditation. The Greek text conveys the idea of “keeping” and “tossing about”—it’s like a treasure hunter who has found a chest of jewels and takes a moment to just feel the gems as his hands sift through the discovery.
Amidst all the pandemic problems and busyness of the season, there is a way to slow down the soul and ponder the goodness of God in the midst of it.
Receive today’s blessing from Luke 2:19:
* * *
The shepherds’ tales were
Preposterous,
Improbable,
And true.
When God’s miraculous grace breaks in
What is there to do
But receive it?
Take it. Hold it. Feel it.
As Mary treasured and pondered the goodness of God
May your soul find enough
Quiet
To sift through the evidences of His grace
And ponder yesterday’s God moments today.
You’re a treasure hunter who has happened upon gold.
I bless you to see, enjoy and ponder the riches of His grace.

And that’s the Gospel!
