It’s About to Rain Bread!?

“Behold, I am about to rain bread

From heaven

For you.”

With those words of the Lord to His people

In Moses’ day

I bless you today—

Bread from heaven is falling.

Manna is on the way.

They weren’t allowed to hoard it.

And you don’t need to try to hoard His grace.

Yesterday’s manna has expired and

Tomorrow’s manna doesn’t yet exist.

But today, whatever manna you need,

God provides.

Whatever grace you need,

God provides.

Jesus, the true bread from heaven, (John 6)

Is with you.

His grace is sufficient for you.

Get ready for the rain.

Today’s blessing is built on the marvelous story of the mysterious manna provision in the wilderness. The miraculously provided flaky food showed up every morning (see Exodus 16) but it was only for the day. If anyone tried to hoard the manna, it would rot and stink! Jesus made it clear in John 6—the story was about Him! He is the bread from Heaven. His grace can’t be hoarded—it’s a day by day gift! And that’s the Gospel!
