There’s only one kind of disbelief
That God might like … a little.
Only one kind of disbelief
That I might like to bless… a little.
It’s the sort of startled, stunned,
“It’s too good to be true,” kind of unbelief that
Luke describes of the disciples that first Easter:
“… they still disbelieved for joy….” (Luke 24:35)
They had heard His predictions.
They had seen His hands and feet.
They were standing in His presence.
But good news that good is hard to take in!
Easter is like that every year for me.
Death has been defeated.
Jesus is alive.
The devil is defeated.
The grave’s been overcome.
We will live and reign with Him forever.
That sort of eye-popping,
Soul-stunning,
Mind-bending,
Will send you
Into joy so full
That you cry out:
“I can’t believe it!”
As you see the risen Christ,
May you disbelieve for joy…
And, then, …. Believe!
