Work Out Your Salvation

“Work out your own

Salvation …

For it is God who works

In You,

Both to will and to work

for his good pleasure.” (Phil. 2:12-13)

Work out…

Not “work for.”

Not “work at.”

Not “work up.”

Child of grace,

You aren’t called to work for

Any good gift of God.

There aren’t enough hours in a week,

Not enough deposits

In the bank of self-righteousness,

To ever earn your salvation or healing or hope.

Work out …

As in “work out from

The assurance of your

Salvation in Christ Jesus.”

Like a heart patient

Who was given his life back

Through a triple bypass miracle

Who goes daily to the gym

To work out,

You work out all the benefits

Of your salvation

Because God gave you new life

And you can put it all to work.
