Step into the Jordan

I bless you,

Heir of God,

To cross the Jordan

Into the deeper

Promises of God.

Canaan was blocked

By the Jordan

Because every new

Step of inheritance in Christ

Is, at first,

Challenged by

The waters of life.

He said the land was theirs—

He didn’t say it was going to be easy.

“When the soles of the feet

Of the priests

Bearing the ark of the Lord,

The Lord of all the earth,

Shall rest in the waters of the Jordan,

The waters … shall be cut off.” (Joshua 3:13)

Carry the presence of the Lord

Into the middle of the barrier,

Into the midst of the obstacle,

Into the swirl of the turbulence.

Take the presence of God

Into the center of the confusion

Which threatens to drown you

And watch the waters part.
