February is for Flying

You can fly

In February—

Even February.

I know…

All this waiting is wearisome.

Waiting for spring.

Waiting for vaccine.

Waiting for “normal.”

Waiting for unveiled faces.

And then, there’s February.

Christmas is over

And Easter’s still in the distance.

What can you do with February?

You can fly!

They who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;

They shall mount up with wings like eagles. (Is. 40:31)

With God, the waiting is

Like an eagle waiting on the

“Thermals”—the rising bubbles of warmth

In the atmosphere—

The updrafts that make for soaring.

You’re not stuck,

You’re just waiting

To soar,

In Jesus’ Name.

And that’s the Gospel!
