I can’t stop watching the 2022 Kentucky Derby,

And thinking about you,

And blessing you—

God’s long shot.

Rich Strike was the longest shot—

80-1 odds for the horse

Who entered the 2022 Kentucky Derby by a fluke

(When another team withdrew).

It’s hard to follow the horse—

He’s too far back,

Too obscure to be mentioned.

Until, at the end, making his move on the inside….

Joseph, languishing in Pharoah’s prison.

Moses, hiding in Midian’s wilderness.

David, tending flocks in Bethlehem’s fields.

Peter, fishing carp in Galilee’s sea.

Paul, hunting Christians in Damascus.

And you, child of God,

Despite the long odds,

God gives you the victory in Christ.
