The Blessing of God’s Seal

God has restrained destruction

In order to come to you

Amidst blazing glory

And seal you in His love.

It’s what John saw

In his vision atop Patmos.

While angels held back

The winds of judgment

Against all wickedness,

John “saw another angel

Ascending from

The rising of the sun,

With the seal of the living God.” (Rev. 7:2)

Do not dare to look
Into the fullness of the rising sun

With natural eye

Lest the fiery glory seer the retina.

But, child of God, look with John

And see the huge, angelic warrior,

Rising in the midst of the blazing star.

Stare into the brilliance and behold

What he bears—

“The seal of the living God.”

The King’s signet.

The mark of authority.

The claim of ownership.

“Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees,”

He thunders,

“Until we have sealed …”

You.

And everyone in Christ.

I bless you, child of glory,

To see the seal of the living God upon your soul.
