You’re a “hallowed one.”
Which is important to remember
On “All Hallows’ Eve”
(“Halloween” for short).
Though all the tricks and treats
And ghosts and goblins
Hearken to the original pagan roots,
The Christians co-opted the day
In the seventh century,
Declaring the first day of November
“All Saints’ Day” or “All Hallows’ Day,”
Making the day before
The Eve of All Hallows.
That’s where you come in,
Child of God,
You’re a “hallowed one”—
A “holy one,”
A “saint” of the most-High God.
“To the saints”…
That’s how Paul addresses most of his letters (e.g., Eph. 1:1).
To be holy is to be “set apart”—
To belong exclusively to God.
I bless you, hallowed one,
To remember how holy you are!
