The Promise of Power

I bless you
To be sure
That God will
Clothe you with Power
Because He promised.

“I am going to send
You what my Father promised…
Stay… until you have been clothed
With Power
From on High.” (Luke 24:49)

The Power
Isn’t random
Or coincidental
Or a stop-gap measure
Dreamed up by God—
Clothing you with Power is,
And always has been,
The plan of God.

The Holy Spirit is not
A force field,
Not a principle,
That you tap into—
He’s the promise of the Father
Sent through the Son.

You can be sure that
The Holy Spirit will not leave you
Because God foretold His coming
Through Ezekiel and Jeremiah and Joel
And through Jesus Himself:
“If I go I will send him to you.” (John 16:7)

You’re gloriously woven into
The Story of God’s redemption–
You’re part of the climax of the narrative.
The Promise has come!
Be clothed with Power from on High!
