Child of God,
I bless you to live
Like a little child.
To be like a child
Is “the greatest” (Matthew 18:4)
According to Jesus
Because it’s only possible
Through humility.
Two-week-old grandbaby Mia
Isn’t trying to be humble when she rests
In my arms—it’s all she can do.
The cutie has no need to put away pride
Or cast off her sense of self-sufficiency.
The child’s life depends on the benevolence
Of another—of someone who loves her
And wants the best for her.
You’re at your greatest when you rest
In the arms of your Father
Knowing that He is your Creator
And that you do not exist apart from Him
And that you cannot make it without Him.
No need to focus on stamping out pride
When you remember who you are,
Little child,
Just remember who you are.
