What “Unashamed of the Gospel” Really Means

I bless you to be

“Not ashamed of the Gospel,

For it is the power of God

For salvation to everyone

Who believes.” (Rom. 1:16, ESV).

It’s not about being unembarrassed

To share your faith

Or even being bold

To stand up for Jesus.

No, I bless you to be like Paul,

As commentator Douglass Moo

Rephrases the verse:

“I have great confidence

In the Gospel.”

May you know the power

Of the Good News.

May you trust the power

Of the Good News

In the face of all the bad news

And in a world that readily

Embraces the sparkling,

The moralistic,

The latest erudite ideology,

May you be unashamed

Of the simplicity of a bloody cross

And a redemptive Savior

And a unique Hope.

Be not ashamed,

The Gospel has all the power

You need.
