A Price is Right Blessing

Here’s strong hope and reassurance:

According to Romans 1:7,

You are

“Called” to be a saint.

Like years ago,

When my wife and I sat

In the studio audience of the Price is Right

And Johnny Olson called out:

“Anne B. Lynch (her maiden name),

Come on down,

You’re the first contestant

On the Price is Right.”

She has said she didn’t want to be called.

She didn’t want to be humiliated on national TV.

She didn’t know what stuff costs.

So, when called, she scowled at me

And said, “Hold my pocketbook.”

She didn’t really want to go,

But she was called,

So she went,

And then she won a car,

And two trips, and a showcase

With a brass bed and an airplane in it.

God’s call beckons you to a place

Where flesh might not want to go

But where your deepest heart longs to go—

To Him, where there is endless spiritual treasure.

You’re called, Beloved,

Called.
