Consider Yourself in Value to the Lilies

Are you not of more value than birds?

If God so clothes the grass of the field…
Will He not much more clothe you? (from Matthew 6)

It’s an argument a fortiori–
A bit of logic,
If the less likely is true,
Then the more likely is true.

If a thousand dollars has value,
Then ten thousand dollars has more value.

If God cares meticulously
For an unsung bird
Or a fleeting flower,
How much more does He care for you?

When unwelcome worries creep in
And you’re trying to shake off the shackles
Of insecurity,
I bless you to think of the lilies and sparrows.
If you’re more treasured than
Random fowl and foliage,
You can be at least as peaceful
As they!
