May you find strength
In the finished work of Christ
To keep facing
All that is unfinished
In the work of life.
It’d be nice to pull weeds once—
And never have to weed again.
It’d be nice to clean the house once—
And never have to sweep again.
It’d be nice to make the big sale—
And never have to sell again.
But, alas, most of life is unfinished.
Most challenges are unending,
Except this;
“Christ is the end of the law
For righteousness to
Everyone who believes.” (Romans 10:4, ESV)
The endless, unfruitful attempt to
Prove ourselves worthy by religious effort
Has ended!
Christ fulfilled righteousness and
Put an end to our self-righteous striving!
You gotta keep working at most things –
Keep weeding, keep sweeping, keep selling –
But for what matters most, right standing with God,
There is no more work,
It’s over, child of God,
The hard work is over.
