One Born and Given

I bless you with
The prophet’s words
Made personal:

“Unto you a child is born,
To you a son is given.”  (Isaiah 9:6)

Born.
In the ordinary way,
Like every child.
Born.
Because Jesus is human.

Given.
In a supernatural way,
Unlike any child.
Given.
Because Jesus is divine.

May you know Him always
As both—
Born like you so He forever
Understands you.
Given unto you so He forever
Transcends you.

Born as a child of Mary
To be your brother.
Given as The Son of God
To be your Savior.

Born and given,
Unto you, heir of God,
He’s born and given.
