I bless you today to
Look beyond the world’s hate
And rivalry
And racism
And finger-pointing
And polarization
Behold with John
“A great multitude that
No one could number
From every nation,
From all tribes
And peoples
And languages.” (Rev. 7:9)
That throng about the throne
Erupting in eternal joy
Is harmonizing perfectly
Not because they
Look the same
Or sound the same
Or walk the same,
But because they have
Been claimed by Another—
They belong to the same King
Citizens of the same kingdom.
That’s who you are
In Christ—
One claimed, sealed, bought
With precious blood.
You’re part of a whole new breed—
Whether you’re black or white or brown,
Whether you’re young or old,
Male or female –
You’re new in Christ – you haven’t lost your identity.
You’ve found it.
There’s hope in Christ
Because we can be one in Christ.
