Disbelieving for Joy

I bless you this Wednesday after Easter

To be like the Disciples on Resurrection Day

Who saw Jesus and disbelieved for joy. ( Luke 24:41)

Seems like an odd blessing, doesn’t it?

That joy can come in such astonishing ways,

Such breath taking, “It’s too good to be true” ways,

That belief is overtaken by joy!

But this is our Easter Gospel—

Our too good to be true, yet it’s true Gospel

It’s the only kind of disbelief that counts as real belief—

May you disbelieve for joy.
