May you “Have this mind…
Which is yours in Christ Jesus,
Who, though he was in the form of God,
Did not count equality with God
A thing to be grasped,
But emptied himself,
By taking the form of a servant…
And humbled Himself.” (Phil. 2:5-8)
May you have a mind,
That is so like Christ,
So deeply secure,
That you can humble yourself,
Without devaluing yourself.
That you can serve others
In freedom,
Not compulsion.
No one took Jesus’ life—
He gave up His breath
Because He willingly, eagerly,
Came to save you.
I bless you with “this mind…
Which is yours in Christ,”
Authentic humility
Which does not lead you
To think less of yourself
But to think of yourself less.
