The Secret Path to Blessedness

I bless you to give and give and give
And to love it and love it and love it.

Take in deep the mysterious words of Jesus:
“It is more blessed to give than receive.”

Not blessed because of a return for your gift,
But blessed in the giving.

Like a runner who gives himself to the run
And suddenly finds thrilling endorphins spilling through his body,
Or the mother who gives milk to her babe in the middle of the night
To discover a sweet joy in cuddling her newborn,
Or the craftsman who gives himself to his woodwork
And finds himself whistling over a job well done.

You’re more blessed when you give
Beloved of God
Because you are made to be like Him—
And He is all Giver.
