Seeing a Need vs. Receiving a Call

There is a difference

Between seeing a need

And discerning a call

To meet a need.

I bless your spirit today

To recognize and receive the call—

The path God has uniquely

Planned for you.

Nehemiah was cupbearer to the King.

A posh life in a Persian palace

Where the exiled saint had plenty.

But, hearing of the broken Jerusalem walls,

And the broken Jewish hearts,

The emperor’s wine-tester

Tasted the bitter sorrow of a disgraced homeland

And it was a poison he could no longer allow. (Neh. 1)

A need became a call

When the Spirit sank

A sorrow into the restorer’s heart.

There are endless needs,

Countless causes.

So, I bless you today to sense

The Savior’s penetrating promptings

That convince you when He calls

You to action.
