What if Jesus
Isn’t frustrated with
Your unwillingness to serve Him
As much as your resistance to
Let Him serve you?
Join the disciples at the Passover table
And watch in stunned silence
As the Savior of the world splashes water
In the basin and robes Himself with
The menial servant’s towel
And takes on the unthinkable task
Of washing the feet
Of the faithless,
Of the soon to be three-time denier.
When Peter forbids the Messiah
To serve Him,
Hear Christ’s pleading:
“If I don’t wash you,
You have no share with Me…” (see John 13:1-9)
If you don’t let me serve you
By dying for you
And washing your sins,
You have no inheritance.
I bless you to see yourself
Through Jesus’ eyes—
He came to serve you,
To wash you,
To fill you.
Let Him do it,
Child of God,
Let Him do it.
