A Slave to Righteousness

May you increasingly discover
The BLISS of being a SLAVE
Of righteousness (Romans 6:18).

A SLAVE?

Paul, the proclaimer of freedom,
The apostle who declares that
We “did not receive the spirit of slavery” (Rom. 8:15).
The preacher of grace upon grace
Calls the believer a slave?

Indeed.

“But thanks be to God,
that you who were once slaves of sin
have become obedient from the heart …,
And, having been set free from sin,
have become slaves of righteousness” (Romans 6:17-18, ESV).

BLISS of being a slave of righteousness?

Indeed.

It is the marvelous gift of holy desire.
It is the inward, Spirit-motivated joy of obedience.
It is ultimate freedom when you can’t
Keep yourself from acting and thinking like God.

So, may you be a slave
To all that is good and right.
