Escape the Darkness

The long, dark season of
Evil and deception and despair
Has been overtaken by the dawn
Of Christ’s glory and grace.

The kingdom of God has
Broken through,
Like morning light,
Displacing darkness,
Awaking hope,
And releasing power.

You, child of God,
Are no longer in the dominion
Of darkness—
No, you have been awakened
And stand on the edge of dawn
Seeing the shadows behind you
But reveling in the light before you.

I bless you to arise, shine,
Because
“The night is far gone.”
