I bless the work of your life
To be a joy today.
May all your work become fun again!
Though we dread Monday
And say “I can’t wait til’ Friday,”
Work isn’t an enemy,
It is a gift from God.
There was work in paradise:
“The Lord took the man
And put him in the Garden of Eden
To work it and keep it.” (Gen. 2:15, ESV)
You are made on purpose for a purpose.
You have a garden to keep,
A sphere of influence to tend and love and grow.
After sin’s unwelcome entry,
A broken-hearted Creator announced
The effect of the curse,
“By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread….” (Gen. 3:19)
Once sin and fear invaded the human soul,
Work started feeling like toil, like a performance-measuring threat.
But Christ came to redeem it all,
Including your work.
You can work with joy, child of God.
Your work is God’s gift to you.
