Finding Rest in Christ’s Finished Work

God rested on the seventh day
Not because He was exhausted
But because He was finished,
Not because He was frenzied,
But because He was at peace.

You are created, Beloved,
For that same peace.

“Remember the Sabbath, to keep it holy…
For in six days the Lord made the heaven and earth…
And rested on the seventh day.” (Ex. 20:8, 11)

Jesus, the second Person of the Triune God,
Through Whom all things were made,
Did His work of redemption,
Bloodied and breathless,
He cried out, “It is finished.”

And so I bless you to take Sabbath
From your striving
Because the work of purchasing salvation
Is finished.
So you can rest,
Physically,
Emotionally,
REST
In the finished work of Jesus.
