I bless your rest,
Your Sabbath in Christ,
Your freedom to hit the pause button,
Your liberty to live with unhurried rhythm,
Because you are no longer a slave in Egypt.
“You shall remember that you were a slave…
And the Lord your God brought you out from there….
Therefore the Lord your God commanded you to
Keep the Sabbath day.” (Dt. 5:15)
Egypt was slavery.
Work. Work. Work.
Never rest. Never rest. Never rest.
Do more. Do more. Do more.
In Egypt, you’re nothing more than
A means to production.
In Egypt, your value is measured
By how much you can do
And how fast you can do it.
But God, in Jesus Christ,
Has brought you out of the Egypt of soul,
That place of law, and slave-labor, and fear,
Into a Promised Land,
Where work is unto the Lord with joy,
And there is rest.
Be not driven, free child of God,
