Astonished

May childlike astonishment
Surprise you today,
Causing your heart to pause,
To think of God,
And whisper,
Wow.

Like Paul, who,
At the conclusion of the
World-shaking Word of
The Roman epistle,
Just exclaims:

“To the only wise God
Be glory forevermore ….” (Rom. 16:27)

When children are little,
They are astonished at their
Parents’ strength and capabilities
(my son was amazed I could crush
As Cheerio bare-handed).

But as the tots age,
Good ol’ dad seems less impressive.

Not so for the child of God!
Our Father never grows smaller in our eyes.
The more mature you become in Christ,
The more astonishing God becomes in your eyes.

May you be astonished,
Child of God,
Astonished!
