I bless your soul
To heal from all the trauma
That has torn and broken you.
King David knew trauma.
Rejected by his brothers,
On the run for his life from murderous Saul,
Hiding and waiting for a decades-old promise
Of a throne.
He felt the trauma:
“They set a net for my steps;
My soul was bowed down.” (Psalm 57:6, ESV)
But the pain didn’t paint the whole picture—
The suffering didn’t have the ultimate say:
“Oh God, my heart is steadfast! …
Awake, O harp and lyre!” (Psalm 57:8, ESV)
I bless that awakening in your deep heart—
That steadfastness, that assurance,
That there is a truer truth,
A more real reality,
A higher definition of your life
Than your trauma.
It is the goodness of God,
The glory of His grace,
The ultimate end of your foes,
And the final triumph of your spirit in Christ.
That is your life – that is you!
Trauma is part of your story – but it is not
Your final story.
Be healed, child of God, be healed.
