Your life isn’t defined by your predicaments—it’s defined by your position in Christ.
When Gabriel visited Mary, the young Nazarene was terrified. The angel immediately sought to alleviate her fears with a beautiful assurance: “… you have found favor with God.” There’s good reason to be unafraid—in Christ, you are favored. It means, literally, “graced.” To be favored of God means that the Lord, through His own sovereign grace and inexhaustible love, has declared you loved and accepted not by your merits. It means that your weaknesses and flaws do not define you—God defines you. The difficult circumstances you might be facing today cannot displace the eternal position of favor that you have been granted in Christ. Receive today’s blessing from Luke 1:30:
* * *
God rest you merry.
God keep you glad.
Let nothing you dismay,
God’s grace is upon you.
Life’s pits and pinnacles do not define you—
Your identity is not fickle,
Your position is unalterable in Christ.
I bless you with the words of Gabriel:
“Do not be afraid, for you have found favor with God.”
May you walk in full expectancy
Of the goodness of God.
You are favored now and forever, child of God.

And that’s the Gospel!
