You Have Found Favor with God

“You have found favor with God.”

Gabriel’s message isn’t just for Mary—

Now, in Christ, it’s who you are.

You’re favored by God.

No need to be afraid of His holiness,

You have found favor with God.

No need to be afraid of your weaknesses,

You have found favor with God.

No need to be afraid of the future,

You have found favor with God.

I bless you to move from worry to wonder,

From angst to anticipation,

As you let the words of the angel

Become God’s word to you—

You have found favor with God.

²⁹ But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be. ³⁰ And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. ³¹ And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus.

Because Christ came and took your place on the cross, God has become propitious toward you in every way—your sin is removed, all judgment is banished, and you have found favor with God. And that’s the Gospel!
