Always Rejoice

“Rejoice in the Lord

Always;

Again, I say

Rejoice!” (Philippians 4:4)

Always?

Yes. Always.

In the heat of summer?

Yes. Always.

In the cold of winter?

Yes. Always.

In the heat of rampant hate.

Yes. Always.

In the cold of dark confusion.

Yes. Always.

Be clear.

It’s not an exhortation

To rejoice in the trouble—

It’s an invitation to rejoice

In the Lord.

There’s much to grieve,

Beloved…

Much.

But there is always,

ALWAYS,

Cause to rejoice

In what God has done for us

In Jesus Christ.

You can rejoice always,

Child of God,

You can rejoice,

No matter what.
