Promised Battleground

I bless you to face

Every spiritual fight

With grace and power in Jesus’ Name.

Your Promised Land

Is also your battleground.

When Joshua led God’s people

Into Canaan,

It was no vacation.

Sure, the land flowed

With milk and honey,

But the enemy wasn’t serving

Them cappuccinos and baklava.

The people of God were in

For a fight.

In fact,

Fight after fight:

“He will without fail

Drive out from before you

The Canaanites, the Hittites, the Hivites,

The Perizzites, the Girgashites,

The Amorites, and the Jebusites.” (Josh. 3:10)

That’s a lot of fights

Against a whole lot of “ites.”

The blessing of the Christian life

Is, by no means, the allure of ease—

No, the blessing of being in Christ,

Is the assurance of God’s presence

In the midst of the struggle.

Life can be tough,

But God is for you,

With you,

In every fight!
