I bless you to revel
On the brink
Of the new.
It is not the day after
The gift is unwrapped
That dazzles the child’s heart—
It is the day before.
It is not the hour after
The sun has set
That paints the sky—
It is the hour before.
On the eve of a new year,
Receive the word of the Lord:
“Behold, I am doing a
New thing;
Now it springs forth,
Do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert.” (Is. 43:19)
What might God do this year?
What grace might rain down?
What relationship might be born?
What healing might manifest?
What promotion might arrive?
What resurrection might surface?
May your soul rejoice,
Child of God,
You stand on the rim of grace,
On the verge of all things new.
