Ark-Like Power

I bless you
To walk in the power
Of the Most High God—
A power far beyond
The weighty, awesome,
Holy force wielded
With the ark of the covenant.

“Whenever the ark set out,
Moses said, ‘Arise, O Lord,
And let your enemies be scattered.’” (Num. 10:35)

They carried the ark and
The Jordan waters parted.

They carried the ark and
The Jericho walls tumbled.

God’s people loved it.
God’s enemies coveted it.
Nations feared it.
The seemingly all-powerful,
Golden Ark of the Covenant.

But, Jeremiah prophesied,
The time is coming,
When no one will speak of it.
It won’t be on any one’s mind. (Jer. 3:16)

Why?

Because real power has arrived.
The dunamis of God,
Unrivaled and unrestricted,
Fell upon the people of God
At Pentecost,
And has never left.

Be filled with power,
Child of God.
No ark necessary.
