Doors Will Open

I bless you to know,
Like imprisoned Paul,
“That through prayer
And the help of the Spirit
Of Jesus Christ
This will turn out
For your deliverance.” (Phil. 1:19)

Whatever “this” is,
No matter what “this” is,
No matter how long,
How unjust,
How painful,
“This is” –

“This will turn out
For your deliverance.”

Like Paul,
May you be sure
That your uninvited,
Incarcerating, frustrating,
Setback
Is not final
And your longing for freedom
Is not futile.

“This will turn out
For your deliverance.”

What then, shall we do
When creaky doors close
Upon us?

“Rejoice, yes,
We will rejoice for we
Know that through prayer
And the help of the Spirit
Of Jesus Christ
This will turn out for our deliverance.” (Phil 1:18-19)
