You are clay
In the Potter’s hands. (Jeremiah 18:6)
Clay.
The stuff of earth—
A scoop full of dust
And a sprinkling of water—
So ordinary.
Couldn’t be more mundane.
Couldn’t be more commonplace.
But, in the hands,
Of a master Artisan,
The amorphous mud
Begins taking shape!
Watch the clay
In the Potter’s hands.
With each turn on the wheel,
With each impression of
The Artist’s hands,
The clay takes shape,
Becoming beautiful,
Useful,
Valuable.
I bless you to see
The wonder of your life,
An earthen vessel,
In the Potter’s hands.
