Making Bricks Without Straw

When hard things become harder,
When bricks must be made without straw,
Get ready –
God is planning a great deliverance.

“You shall no longer give the people
Straw to make bricks,”
The Pharoah who knew not Joseph said.
“Let them go and gather straw
For themselves.” (Exodus 5:7)

Why would God let their hard labor
Become more laborious?
Why let them feel the weight
Of an impossible demand?

Because, when His people are most empty,
God is most able to fill.
“I have heard the groaning of the … slaves,
I have remembered my covenant,”
Said the Lord Almighty (Exodus 6:5).

When it’s seems impossible
And your flesh is fully spent,
Get ready –
God hears your groan
The blood of the Lamb still delivers
And He still parts Red Seas.
