How much better is the New?

Let Paul say it—

(could he be more stark in

His litany of contrasts?):

“Not with ink,

But with the Spirit of the living God.” (2 Cor. 3:3)

“Not on tablets of stone,

But on tablets of human hearts.” (2 Cor. 3:3)

“Not of the letter

But of the Spirit.” (2 Cor. 3:6)

Not “The ministry of death,

Carved in letters on stone”

But “the ministry of the Spirit.” (2 Cor. 3:7-8)

Not “the ministry of condemnation,”

But “the ministry of righteousness.” (2 Cor. 3:9)

Not “what once had glory”

But “the glory that surpasses it.” (2 Cor. 3:10)

Not “what was being brought to an end”

But “what is permanent.” (2 Cor. 3:11)

Live not under the weight of the law,

But revel in the glory, power and joy of

The New Covenant, child of God.

May the glories of His grace

Replace the worries of the law—

You’re in Christ. Oh glory!
